Welcome to Words Like Silver!
I’m Grace. I’m twenty, but I started this little place seven years ago. I’m from Tampa, Florida but I’m currently based out of Lexington, Virginia at Washington and Lee University.
I’ve been blogging since 2011 and loving every minute of it. While I usually read about 150 books a year, I can never read, write, or edit enough.
I’ve always been literary, but I’ve known that I’ve wanted to work with words since I was twelve. I was a previous intern for Immortal Ink Publishing and now I’m an editor at Teen Eyes Editorial. Attending BookExpo America in 2012 and 2015 only cemented my desire to become more involved in the industry.
In addition to being a blogger, editor, and writer in high school, I worked at my local indie bookstore, Oxford Exchange. I ran two book clubs, a teen classics one at OE and a young adult one at Inkwood Books.
Now, at Washington and Lee, I’m involved in the Executive Committee, WLULex, Contact Committee, Delta sorority, and I’m on the hip hop team – which is a riot.
I have a weakness for books from strong poetry backgrounds as well as magical realism, but I love just about everything young adult! To contact me for any content, email me or tweet me at the links below.
When I’m not working or with my identical twin, Hannah, I play instruments, letter quotes, walk in the woods, and read Brain Pickings. I love flowers, landscapes, rain, and breakfast sandwiches. I hope y’all get to know me more as y’all check out more of my blog!
About the Blog:
Words Like Silver was created in April of 2011. Its name comes from the word “silver-tongued” which is used to describe someone who’s articulate, clever, or poetic. It’s used to describe someone who’s good with words. As a reader, I look for writing above all else and so it seemed like an apt description for the books I’d love to talk about. I try to update at least once a week!
