Most of y’all probably have a nice, chilly Christmas Day! Here, it’s about 75 degrees. It was 50 degrees this morning so of course I was all bundled up with a blanket and a good book like the Floridian that I am.
I hope y’all all had a fantastic Christmas with friends, family, and plenty of holiday cheer. (Or, to some of my more secular readers or those practicing another religion – happy holidays! I hope y’all’s were as great as mine!)
I read a few holiday reads that made it really feel like the season:
- Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle
- The Christmas Doll by Elvira Woodruff
- Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
Personally, I like the time leading up to Christmas the most. There are few things better to me than curling up in front of the fire with the flames casting shadows on my pages and listening to my sisters playing “O Holy Night” on piano in the background. Peppermint bark, Santa hats, puns, cheesy ornaments, being on BREAK and being able to contribute to this lovely blog, all my usual holiday reads. Then of course, it really only starts feeling like the time of year during the Christmas Eve service at my church.
Following the crash of my computer earlier this year, it’s been difficult to blog but hopefully my new laptop will make it a lot easier to keep up with Words Like Silver and I am so excited to start writing longer works on Scrivener again. In the next weeks or so, I’ll have a few of my end-of-the-year posts gracing the blog. My Read in 2013 page and review archive will definitely be worked on over before December 31st rolls around. I’ll be writing the wonderful End of the Year Survey, Blogging Resolutions, and more. I’ll have a very bookish In My Mailbox served up for y’all on Sunday. But for now, ease back with a lovely book and plenty of laughs with the family or whomever you might be lucky enough to spend the holidays with, even if it’s just a blogger writing a post to you- Merry Christmas!
