This is a weekly meme hosted by several blogs and it is where you put the first sentence of a book up and see if it draws you into the book. Let’s see, shall we?
Jane Roberts leaned against her dresser, studying the way her white silk nightie looked against her sun-kissed skin.
Um, not so much. It sounds too shallow. But if you looked at the book (LA Candy) it actually looks pretty good. Here’s another one.
My sister Justine always believed that the best way to deal with your fear of the dark is to pretend it’s really light.
This book was really good and the sentence draws you in. For a good reason….this book was fantastic! This was Siren by Tricia Rayburn. The third is next.
“It is a truth universally acknowledged,” Mustardseed said, flying in lazy loops like an intoxicated bumblebee, “that a fairy in possession of a good appetite must be in want of pie.”
Yes! I loved this book and this sentence perfectly describes it. The humor, the Shakespeare, the loveliness. Perchance to Dream by Lisa Mantchev was w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l.
I don’t like cages.
Eh, this quote was okay. It makes you believe that the protaganist is in jail and makes you curious as to why? But, the sentence is just plain. This quote was from Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead, which was a great book. I love the Vampire Academy series. The spin-off series starts in August and looks absolutely amazing. Bloodlines can not get here fast enough.
This is all for this week, mostly because I want to go read so that I can blog some more tomorrow!
