Armchair BEA Day One

Hey y'all! It's Grace and because I can't attend BookExpo America this year, I'm doing Armchair BEA! I did Armchair BEA in 2011 when Words Like Silver was a baby blog but it's been quite a while. Last year, I didn't have the time and in 2012, I was actually on the floor of Javits in New York City at the conference! If you're hitting up the conference, you can check out my help post for a few extra tips (and have plenty of fun for the rest of us)!For those of y'all who haven't seen it in previous years, Armchair BEA is the virtual version of the conference we know and love. While those in NYC can mingle around and meet new bloggers in person, the rest of us still make the effort to come together online and chat about the upcoming releases, trends, and love for books that makes BookExpo so special.Today's topics for Day One of Armchair BEA include an introduction and a discussion about literature in all forms - each blogger's interpretation of what constitutes literature and possibly a list of favorites. I don't think I can particularly sum up my dependence on literature and love for reading in words more than I already have on my passion post and in a few of my discussion posts, so I'll just link to that. If you're a fellow blogger, leave me a comment and I'll check out your post!

The Interview

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging? Where in the world are you blogging from? I'm Grace. In a handful of words, I'm a blogger, editor, writer, identical twin. I play lacrosse and piano.  My biggest ambition in life is to work in young adult publishing throughout my life, preferably as a publicist. I've been blogging for three years now as of April! I got into blogging because frankly, I connected so much more easily with words than with people. Discovering a community of people who loved books - depended on books - as much as I did? That was heaven and it's so interwoven with my identity now that I couldn't imagine being without it. I'm blogging from Tampa, Florida!Describe your blog in just one sentence. Then, list your social details -- Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. -- so we can connect more online. The phrase on my business cards, and t-shirts, is one girl's passion for books. It's solid and true, so that's about the best summary I can give. You can follow me on Twitter or Instagram! What genre do you read the most? I love to read because ___________________ . Young adult! I read pretty much everything ensconced in the genre. I have a few preferences (I love fairytale retellings, writing rooted in poetry or an MFA background, still have a weakness for paranormal) but I'll read pretty much everything. I love to read because I fully rely on it. It's everything to me, especially since you can live so many other lives within your own. What was your favorite book read last year? What’s your favorite book so far this year? My favorite book of last year was Fingerprints of You by Kristen-Paige Madonia. My favorite book this year so far is probably Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour. What does your favorite/ideal reading space look like? (Pinterest encouraged!) My ideal reading spaces include Eno Hammocks, beaches, and extremely cozy beds. My favorite time to read is curling up at the end of the day with a book when I'm tired and done with homework, if I have a bit of time. I write on my walls so there are all these quotes and lyrics all up the walls in multicolored Sharpie and Christmas lights strung over my bed. With the shadows from the lightbulbs and just some soft music and sleep, it's the perfect spot.
