Hey y'all! It's Grace here, in the middle of my second week at Washington and Lee. I promised to y'all that when I decided which books I was bringing with me to school, I'd share. Now that I finally have my bookshelf (semi) up and running, I figured I'd document it.Without further ado, here's the room (and the bookshelf.)I was pretty bored this summer, so I ended up planning this way more than I should have. I like to have a workspace that feels like me, and I usually end up doing most of my homework in bed anyways, so I couldn't be happier with it. Most of the time, I just leave my door open so my hall can spill in and out as they please. It's a lot of fun that way. (Side note: WLS isn't usually this image-heavy, so sorry if my attempts at formatting it don't work properly!)Tiny room, bad photo quality. Sorry about that.

The Room

If you were to walk into our dorm, this is the first thing you'd see. Our awesome RA loves memes, so those are our name tags. I like to doodle on the whiteboard when I get bored, but it usually has some variation of Smith up there.

All I really cared about in putting together my room was that I'd have a comfy bed. Mission accomplished. It's all cream and white and cozy. (I've been mocked for my pillows, but hey. I love 'em. I've gotten pretty good at hurling my small ones onto my desk chair from my bed at night.)

Under-bed storage like a champ. Side note: this rug is one of my favorite things in the world. I've already had so many nights where I've flung myself dramatically onto it and complained about my homework. What a time to be alive.

The bedside table (a.k.a my bookshelf) currently features some flowers, a few books, a jar of fortune cookie slips, some melatonin, a lamp, and a bowl I slip my bracelets into at night.

See above. Featuring books. Love the bedside.

The walls, meanwhile, contain a map, some bulletin boards, lanterns, and an NYC skyline canvas my older sister painted me for Christmas one year. I'm a big fan. (The decal took me forever to put up, but I also had a lot of time to think about it over the summer.)

I have memory boxes at home, and I basically just stuck their contents onto some corkboard slabs. This photo quality isn't the greatest, but you get the point. I love my letters, photos, postcards, ticket life is on these.

I love having tangible motivation visible, so here I have some lists. Our convocation program, good habits to get into, long-term goals, some school ideas of things to get involved with...

Working my way from the corner, I have a closet door plastered in this massive John Belushi poster (lots of love to the hall for our Animal House night last Friday), with my BPL laundry bag hanging on the door handle. Some command hooks for robes and such.

God made the cube organizer so man could prosper. (Currently stuffed with coffee, coffee mugs, a toolbox, plastic glasses, and costume items.)

I think the desk is friendly chaos, and I love it for that. Lots of books, journals, change jars, post-its, planners, etc,. Y'all know how I work.

Truly sorry for the photo quality, y'all. That's such a hard angle to capture considering I was pressed up against my window with about two feet to work with.

I also have a line of books above my desk, featuring:

#GIRLBOSSFranny and ZooeyThe Hidden RealityEvery You Every MeThe Dharma BumsTiger LilyLove Poems from GodGirl in PiecesThe Unbearable Lightness of Being.

By my bedside are Winger and Seven Days of You.

Tiny space, lots of love. And all y'all W&L kids: please come borrow books if you want to! I love company and I love talking peoples' ears off about the books I read. I'm happy to lend out my copies as long as you return them in good condition and don't steal them forever.

Bonus: toga pic in the dorm room because we're super #college.

Talk to y'all soon.
