Best of 2016: Not the Books
Hey y'all!I'm miserably ill (and busy), and so I've been a little absent as of late. I've been awfully behind on Best of 2016 posts - and they're my absolute favorite posts to do.Jamie at The Perpetual Page Turner does this adorable end-of-the-year wrap-up with all her favorite non-bookish things: music, TV, moments, movies, etc,. I've participated for the past two years, and I've loved it, particularly as WLS has conveyed more and more of my personality over the years.Without further ado, here's my year:This wrap-up is a lot easier to do this year than in previous years, because I started using Spotify. They do this fabulous end-of-year playlist with the 100 tunes you've listened to the most. So, here's my year. (I think they're in order but I'm not entirely sure.)

BIG ONES FOR ME: Gallant, Jeremy Loops, The Lumineers, Mac Miller, Sigala, Galantis, The Chainsmokers, Quinn XCII, The Revivalists, A Tribe Called Quest.Still not big on TV, but I'll give it a shot. Still watching Scandal. Also got into Gilmore Girls and The Office. I used to put something on in the background while doing homework in high school (occasionally - I'd always forget and put on music instead) but here, there are significantly fewer worksheets and so that's more difficult.Star Wars: The Force Awakens - I have this weird habit of always wanting to see movies by myself. Last year for my 18th birthday, my family insisted on coming with me to see Star Wars for the first time using the "it's Hannah's birthday too excuse" (perks of being a twin, y'all.) Luckily, I snuck away the next week to watch it by myself. Loved.Me Before You - I'll admit that I am a horribly sappy person, and I cried my eyes out. I thought the movie was definitely cheesier than the book; however, it was still enjoyable.Still bad at seeing movies though. New resolution?
I have a lot of obsessions, but they aren't the type of thing I keep track of. I'll add to these as I go throughout my day and realize what I've invested wholeheartedly into my life.
1. Woods Creek runs - We have this trail at school that was killer to run during the fall. During my week, there's no greater pleasure than popping in my earbuds and disappearing for an hour. I think it might be a little too cold now though.
2. Hand-lettering - Although I've always been a calligraphy gal, I don't think I've ever been as meticulous with it as I have been this year. Hunting down quotes, scrawling down letters. Big fan, and it's a great stress reliever.
3. Flowers - I don't know where exactly the flower obsession came from, but it's so real. At home, I would pick flowers whenever I could and keep them in mason jar vases beside my bed. I have a shoebox full of dried flowers from big events - prom, my sister's wedding, a date or two. Here, it's harder to find flowers - because it's cold and I'm a broke college student - but they make me so happy.
This year was a huge year, one that started with a bang. My sister got married, then I went to the Bahamas with some pals. I visited two of my best friends in Delaware (and went to prom!) I graduated high school, went to my first music festival, hiked part of the Appalachian Trail. Went to college, made new friends, forged some new traditions. All in all, an eventful - but great - year.
