Ripple by Mandy Hubbard

Okay, I know that my friends and I have a strange obsession with mermaids/sirens/selkies and other water lore creatures. We've read Forgive My Fins, Ingo, The Mermaid's Mirror, Seven Tears Into the Sea, Siren, etc,.A new one came out today by Mandy Hubbard, author of But I Love Him and agent. Her latest client's book is Virtuousity which I might actually get a copy of soon (please!) I've heard amazing things about Virtuousity (coming out on October 18th by Simon & Schuster) and But I Love Him is praised by many to be gorgeous, different, and heartbreaking.I - unfortunately - haven't read it but I really want to. I haven't had the time or the money (I put myself on a book buying ban to save for upcoming conventions and and it kind of made me depressed that I won't be reading it soon.Although one book that might actually force (and I mean force) me to buy it might just be Ripple by Mandy Hubbard. I mean, it's about MERMAIDS and the cover is BEAUTIFUL. Who's with me? Just look at it.

That is just gorgeous. The description makes it sound amazing and (yay!) it's the release date! It came out today, July 21, and due to a remarkable form of self-restraint, I haven't yet spent my Kindle budget for the month! I'm going to buy it (if I don't when a giveaway - there are so many of them today) tomorrow or something because it sounds absolutely fantastic.

I might also buy it from Borders online before it liquidates. I'm so depressed about that by the way. That news broke my heart. Borders was my safe haven; my favorite place. WHY?! OH WHY GOD DID YOU DO THIS TO THE ECONOMY?!

Sorry about that. I'm going insane with the news but I'm also going insane over how great this book looks! A lot of the people in the blogging community got ARCs of it and good for them but I really wanted to get the finished copy. Should I buy it on the Kindle or in the store? I really want that cover....

Here's the description:

Lexi is cursed with a dark secret. Each day she goes to school like a normal teenager, and each night she must swim, or the pain will be unbearable. She is a siren - a deadly mermaid destined to lure men to their watery deaths. After a terrible tragedy, Lexi shut herself off from the world, vowing to protect the ones she loves. But she soon finds herself caught between a new boy at school who may have the power to melt her icy exterior, and a handsome water spirit who says he can break Lexi's curse if she gives up everything else. Lexi is faced with the hardest decision she's ever had to make: the life she's always longed for - or the love she can't live without?

I'm yearning for this! I need this book!

What do y'all think?
