Top Ten Characters Who Remind Me of People I Know

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic was characters who remind me of myself or somebody else. I'm sure that I both butchered the capitalization on the title and that I'm way overthinking this, but oh well. There are a lot of minor characters who remind me of people that I know but I can't quite pull them to mind right now so I'll add them as I think about them. I think that as long as you read, you constantly see yourself reflected in the personalities and thoughts of other characters, so it's hard to nail down the characters that remind you completely of yourself. I hope y'all enjoy!

1. Noelle from Keep Holding On by Susane ColasantiI'd say that pretty much all of Susane Colasanti's characters remind me of myself (except I don't really have crushes the way that they do!). They're passionate, a little sad, and dreamy. Not to be presumptuous, but they're strong and they don't open up to people easily. I am always having issues being as social as everybody else and I'm convinced that there's something more for me out there. I can especially relate to some of them who dream of New York and life beginning.2. Miles from Looking for Alaska by John GreenMiles is also incredibly passionate and is on the search for the Great Perhaps. A lot of the inner monologues and his thoughts were ones that almost exactly mirrored my own. Despite the fact that he is a guy, he's one of the characters that I've connected to the most when reading (or listening, because I listened to the audiobook of Looking for Alaska) a book.3. Augustus from The Fault in Our Stars by John GreenAugustus reminds me of my ex-boyfriend. That sounds strange because I can see y'all going "WHY DID YOU BREAK UP THEN?!" but he does. He's caring, tries a little too hard, and was the slightest bit strange. It's a positive comparison, but when I was reading it, I completely made the connection.4. Carmen from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann BrasharesIt's easy to find a character that reminds me of a certain friend because she has a very distinct personality. She's a firecracker. She's loyal, and a little self-absorbed, but she has a loud and bold personality. It's not really overbearing or forced, but she's just naturally sassy. I adore her, and I always think of her when reading this book.5. Kate from Die for Me by Amy PlumI really like Kate. She's slightly antisocial, and feels more at home in quiet places while reading. She loves her sister and still has a normal personality but she's quiet and reserved. She's slightly adventurous even though she's quiet. She reminds me a lot of myself. Even though I wish I was in Paris.BONUS! Characters who I wish reminded me of somebody:6. Simon from Keep Holding On by Susane ColasantiSimon was so awesome. He was a part of lit mag. He didn't try to loudly help Noelle because he understood more about her than he let on. Instead he helped her in quieter ways and befriended her. He was charming and quirky. He didn't care what anybody else thought. He just sounds like the perfect guy that I'd want to be friends with in high school.7. James from Lament by Maggie StiefvaterI absolutely love James. He's hilarious, incredibly passionate, and comes up with the perfect things to say. Even when Deirdre hurts him, he is still there for her. He's the most loyal guy. I talked about him in my Valentine's Day post and I love reading about him. I'm dying for the third book, Requiem, to be released! He's incredibly honest.
