Books I Got This Week
From Book of the Month to some library picks.

This week, I haven't had much bandwidth for writing on the blog, as I've been pouring my energy into shaping what's next for me after my most recent book deadline, but I would like to be better about recording what's on my desk, my bedside table, etc. in a given week.
Mostly, I got my monthly Book of the Month delivery and started daydreaming about summer days at my favorite place in the world (a cozy cottage in rural Ontario.) So, speaking of—
BOUGHT
- Perfect Storm by Carley Fortune
Carley Fortune writes warm, sun-drenched romances that usually take place lakeside in Canada. Most love her for Every Summer After, her debut, and the movie adaptation is coming out this summer. My favorite is This Summer Will Be Different, and I'm hoping Perfect Storm lives up to the qualities of her work I most love.
- Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke
Easily one of the most buzzed-about books of the year, both for its subject matter and its execution, Yesteryear is a book you read for the discourse: because you want to have a take, contribute to a take, scoff at the ones you disagree with. Its hook is massive: a tradwife influencer rooted in fundamentalist Christianity wakes up in the time period she so often romanticizes—mid-1800s Idaho.
- The Shippers by Katherine Center
I love Katherine Center. Her books are relatively predictable, with a grab-bag of tricks, but that's what I want when I'm poolside anyway. I pitch her first book, The Bodyguard (which I also believe is being adapted to film/TV), as Ted Lasso meets Miss Congeniality. Katherine Center is an ol' reliable in this genre.
