The Basics—
Scroll down for my latest posts.
If you're here for my debut novel, Mountain Sounds, more information—and links— will be available here as soon as I have them. I share a lot behind-the-scenes on my blog and social media, and have my 8+ years of work on this one book documented extensively online, including publishing advice, plot snippets, mood boards and playlists, examples of snags I've work through, and more. Join the ecosystem! I will let y'all know as soon as I have more tangible assets to share. Until then, you can support me and my book by engaging with my other social media projects.
For the longer read, I'm partial to my blog here. I started this website for book reviews in the 7th grade, almost 15 years ago. Nowadays, it mostly spotlights book conversations (with 250+ book reviews and counting, with more to come as I transfer over the archive), but also incorporates my travel writing, psychology interest, lifestyle journalism, and more.
For the shorter read, many enjoy reading my book reviews, crossposts, and Journal of a Novel installments through Substack. Join my 3,000+ subscribers for a weekly digest of "the best of Words Like Silver" and other exclusive content under 1,500 words every time.
Recently, I've loved doing voice notes (a podcast, but sloppier—usually insomniac book club discussions) on Spotify too. You can give them a listen here:
The Latest Links—Week of March 31
Links updated—weekly?
- Beartown by Fredrik Backman (voice note) — By popular request, some notes on cult-ish thinking, "almost isn't enough," and contrastive parallelism á la ChatGPT through the lens of Fredrik Backman's Beartown.
- My love letter to The Brick — Unfortunately, I am a devotee—but not for the "usual" phone addiction reasons.
- Cinder by Marissa Meyer (voice note) — I chat about my recent reread of a sci-fi/fantasy YA series that's Cinderella—but with cyborgs.
- The House Saphir by Marissa Meyer (book review) — An original Bluebeard retelling as a ghost story—with Marissa Meyer's signature flair.
- My spotlight of a cozy tiny home in Pisgah National Forest, ideal for a writing or reading retreat.
- Mini reviews from the Words Like Silver archive—featuring Fablehaven by Brandon Mull, Letters from a Stoic by Seneca, The Diviners by Libba Bray, and more.
More to come!
