Read the First Chapter of Mountain Sounds

Right now, I want to write on here more than just about anything else, but I'm exhausted enough from revision that the words won't entirely come. So! A preview of the love of my life, Mountain Sounds, the manuscript I'm hoping will be my debut novel. If I change anything in this chapter before submission, it would likely be minimal, so—fingers crossed.
Genre-wise, I describe Mountain Sounds nowadays as a speculative Southern Gothic that straddles the literary/commercial line, but this may shift slightly.
