Happy List for August
A running list of little joys and gratitudes making my month.

My happy list habit endures, y'all. I love having years and months of these stored—plus random lists in my phone notes or journals—which means that they do get repetitive. But hey, at least I'm consistent. The list grows and we're only a few days into August, so keep an eye on it:
August
- Aggressively jamming to a song while home alone
- Being at the bottom of a jam jar and going to try those berry lattes people love to do
- The rush of a chapter starting to come together in writing a new book
- Lemony-fresh scent of clean countertops
- A marathon reading day where you just crank out a ton
- Sleeping with a weighted blanket
- The mug that keeps my tea warm while I'm working
- Writing sideways in the margins
- Scrapbooking
- Testing new paints
- Childrens' drawings on the fridge
- The tabbed edges they put on pillowcases that make the pillows stay
- A hat fixing a bad hair day
- When you think you've forgotten a charger somewhere but you actually have it
- Night swimming
- Listening to music in a dark car long after you've parked
- Having sunscreen rubbed into your back
- Gangly puppies
- Sleeves that have thumb holes
- Angsty country playlists
- Smell of gasoline
- Seeing bright stars for the first time in a while
- Pops of sparks at a bonfire
- Storms against tin roofs
- The water pressure of the gym shower
- The peace after a grocery run of having your next meals planned out
- Being at a domesticity point at which you can plan actual varied meals (lol)
- Will Patton narrating audiobooks
- Being extremely good about drinking water (you feel so physically great and morally superior)
- Seeing a job/contract opportunity that actually really excites you (but ugh, desire is awful)
- I have a sunroof now
- Putting on sweatpants after a post-workout shower
- Salt & vinegar chips
- Being done with [redacted book process]
- Camp counselor reunion up ahead!
- College reunion up ahead!
- When you’re so fixated on a specific song on repeat that cardio flies by
- When you see that glowy, euphoric smile people have that’s really rare and you feel very lucky to have glimpsed it
- Kind drivers in traffic
